Tetris Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

As any prominent prize-giving event nears, there’s always a demand to include of new categories to acknowledge overlooked contributions and satisfy the hearts of fans who have specialized interests.

A fellow writer has already made for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. Equally deserving are board games, representing a dedicated supporter's campaign. However, I must insist when I prioritize just as with other single-minded supporters, there's a strong justification for why my demand remains most pressing and significant. This is the request: There should be a category for puzzle games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and it will always start arguments and end in fuzzy definitions. This explains why movie academies avoid this approach. Yet it remains a necessary evil within the realm of gaming, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category.

For the full spectrum of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards offer these genre categories for Action, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these award types actually cover numerous genres, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to puzzle games. No suitable classification appears to put them. Consider three of recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles of one title, the pulse-pounding block-matching in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. What category would fit them within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games published annually without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated in any category during that awards season
  • Another creative title received no nominations during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience got ignored recently
  • Just some brain-teasers barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

Commonly they're compact experiences, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Well-known matching games stand as the most-played games worldwide continuing this trend for many years.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges popular creative games competing to become most purchased experience; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. One could readily select multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

And to reiterate, these are games lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators are working at the challenging frontier of video game design, creating some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
